Platform Fees
To help support the marketplace and process payments securely, fees are deducted from each successful sale.
These fees help cover payment processing, marketplace development, customer support, and platform operations.
What Fees Apply?
When you make a sale, the following fees may be deducted:
Platform Fee
The Commune charges a marketplace commission fee on successful sales.
This fee helps support:
- Platform development
- Seller tools
- Marketplace maintenance
- Customer support
- Security and fraud prevention
The current platform fee is 3% of the order value, capped at £5 per order.
The Commune is built to support independent creators, artists and sellers. We aim to keep our fees as fair as possible while covering the costs of maintaining and developing the platform. As the marketplace grows, we will continue to review our fee structure.
Payment Processing Fee
Payments are securely processed by Stripe.
Stripe charges payment processing fees on successful transactions. These fees are deducted automatically during payment processing.
Stripe payment processing fees are charged separately and depend on the payment method used by the buyer. For standard UK consumer Visa and Mastercard payments, Stripe currently charges 1.5% + 20p per transaction. Different rates may apply for premium, international or alternative payment methods.
