Connecting Stripe
To receive payments from customers, you'll need to connect a Stripe account to your store.
Stripe is one of the world's largest online payment providers and is used by millions of businesses to process payments securely.
Connecting a Stripe account allows The Commune to accept customer payments and automatically transfer funds from your sales to your bank account.
Why do I need a Stripe account?
A connected Stripe account allows you to:
- Accept card payments from customers
- Receive payouts from completed orders
- Manage refunds and disputes
- Access payment and transaction reports
All payments on The Commune are processed securely through Stripe. Card and banking information is handled directly by Stripe and is never stored on The Commune.
Connecting your account
- Open your Settings.
- Navigate to Seller account.
- Select Create a Stripe Account.
- Follow the instructions provided by Stripe.
- Complete any identity verification steps requested.
Once Stripe has approved your account, you can immediately begin selling on The Commune.
Verification requirements
Stripe may ask for additional information to verify your identity and comply with financial regulations.
Depending on your location and business type, this may include:
- Your legal name
- Date of birth
- Business information
- Address details
- Bank account information
- Proof of identity
If Stripe requires additional information in the future, you'll see this within your Stripe dashboard.
Receiving payouts
After your account is connected, payments from completed orders will be sent to your Stripe account.
Payouts are then transferred by Stripe to your connected bank account according to your Stripe payout schedule. See Getting Paid for more information.
Troubleshooting
Log in to your Stripe account and check if any verification information is missing. Stripe may require additional details before you can receive payments.
You must have a connected and verified Stripe account before you can publish products for sale.
Bank account details are managed directly within Stripe. Update your payout information in your Stripe dashboard.
If you're having trouble connecting Stripe, please contact support and we'll be happy to help.
