14/03/26 – 7pm – SHIFT basement, Capitol Centre Celyn of Gwent: ‘Dying and Rising’ In partnership with SHIFT, Celyn of Gwent presents the debut sharing of their live audiovisual performance work, Dying and Rising. Guest Artist to be announced. ‘We will have no puff of smoke and bloodless resurrection. We must tend a different garden from the poisoned soil.’ Each day the earth sinks deeper into climate crisis. Extractivist powers wage war and violence across the globe. We bear witness to a constant stream of corruption and brutality. More and more people feel increasingly alone. ‘Dying and Rising’ is an audiovisual response to living through the climate crisis in 21st century Britain. Queer musician, vocalist and sound artist, Celyn of Gwent moves fluidly between original songs, poetry, ballad songs of the British Isles, and soundscapes incorporating field recordings of urban space. This sonic landscape is combined with an audio-reactive visual score created from video footage filmed across Wales and London. The development of this audiovisual work has been supported by Ty Cerdd’s Create fund.
